Buying Guide – How to Choose the Best AI Electric Golf Caddy That Follows You
Selecting the right AI electric golf caddy that follows you requires understanding key factors that affect performance and convenience on the course.
Tracking Technology
Look for models that use UWB (Ultra-Wideband), RF, or Ultrasound technology for reliable follow tracking. UWB typically offers precise tracking, while RF provides a long-range connection. Ensure the system works on both flat and uneven terrain.
Check if the system uses gyroscopes for straight-line tracking and supports multiple operation modes like follow, remote, and manual.
Battery Life
Battery capacity is critical for endurance. Most caddies offer 36 to 45 holes on a single charge, with some reaching up to 54. Choose a capacity that fits your typical round length or multi-round schedule.
Prioritize models with fast-charging capabilities to minimize downtime between uses and ensure consistent performance.
Control Options
A good caddy offers multiple control modes including remote, app, and manual push. Remote control allows you to steer from a distance, while app integration provides additional customization like speed and follow distance adjustments.
Ensure the system supports cruise control and one-touch recall for hands-free convenience and safety on the course.
Terrain Handling
Check for all-terrain wheels and hill climbing capability. Models should handle slopes up to 25 percent and provide stable grip on wet grass or uneven ground. Anti-tip designs are essential for safety.
Look for strong motors, ideally dual motors, to maintain consistent speed without straining the battery or user.
Weight and Portability
Lightweight frames made from aluminum or similar materials make transport easier. Folding design is crucial for storage, so look for 3-motion or quick-fold mechanisms that fit in compact car trunks.
Consider the total weight including accessories and whether the battery is removable to reduce overall load.
Waterproof Rating
An IPX5 or higher rating ensures the electronics are protected against splashes and rain. This is important if you play in early morning dew or unexpected showers.
Check if the control panel and motor seals are sealed to prevent water damage during wet play.
Display and Monitoring
A clear LED display helps you monitor speed, battery, and mode at a glance. Color displays with good visibility in sunlight are preferable for accurate data reading.
Features like USB ports for charging phones or GPS add convenience during the round.
Warranty and Support
A solid warranty such as one year or more protects your investment. Look for brands that offer professional after-sales support, setup videos, or responsive customer service.
Check if spare parts are readily available and if the manufacturer has a history of reliable product updates.
How to Use and Care for Your AI Electric Golf Caddy That Follows You
Start by charging the battery fully before your first use and ensure all accessories like the remote or app are paired correctly. Place the caddy on flat ground and engage the auto-follow mode to let it calibrate the sensors before you walk.
Keep the caddy at a safe distance from other players and obstacles by adjusting the follow distance through the remote or app. Use the cruise control mode to maintain a steady pace that matches your walking speed.
After each round, clean the tires and wheels with a soft cloth to remove dirt and grass clippings. Store the battery in a cool dry place and recharge it periodically to maintain its health and longevity.
